Laser Welding Monitoring

Our laser welding measurement devices measure the output power and detect changes and errors. The laser power at every welded point and the reflected laser beam can be measured and assessed and the details can be saved.

Key Features:

  • Both the emitted and reflected laser beams during welding can be measured and the details can be saved, hence controlling the process.
  • Images of the samples after welding are taken by a CCD camera, and can be monitored and saved.
  • The upper and lower limits can be set based on the data of results from good welds, and an alarm is triggered when the measured data is out of the set range.
  • The laser power and reflected beam intensity are displayed with the time records in a graphical format.
  • Measured data can be saved in a graphical format to enable rapid checking of the production process records.

Laser Weld Monitor MM-L300A

The monitor detects welding defects and errors such as gaps between parts, missing parts, weld depth over-penetration, incorrect focus point and cover gas absence. It provides feedback to operators on the resultant laser weld quality.
It is ideal for both process development and quality control for production laser welding applications. The unit works by detecting and recording a thermal signal from the area of laser interaction and converting this into a graphical waveform.
Absolute max/min limits can be set and value envelopes can be drawn around the waveform. Once the limits are determined, the unit compares a new weld waveform in real time to identify a good or bad weld.
The compact, 3 kg (7 lb) unit reduces set-up space when integrated into a production line or used in a laboratory environment. The sensor can be mounted either on the optical axis of the laser beam trajectory or in an off-axis position.

  • High temporal resolution (down to 1 μs) with a dedicated sensor, enables monitoring of both CW and pulsed lasers
  • Envelopes allow real-time comparison and detection of good and bad welds
  • Light weight, compact design reduces set-up space when integrating into production lines
  • Sensor can be mounted either on the optical axis of the laser or off-axis
  • Easy and intuitive operation
